Basbousa with Condensed Milk Sauce

This easy recipe gives you a soft and delicious gluten-free basbousa, topped with a rich sweetened milk sauce. Perfect to serve at family gatherings, special occasions, or when hosting friends.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pack gluten-free basbousa mix
  • 1 pack cream
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • ½ cup melted butter

For the sauce:

  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • ½ cup milk

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the wet ingredients and then add the basbousa mix. Mix gently until smooth.
  3. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish (butter or Tahini) and spread evenly.
  4. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the top turns golden.
  5. While baking, prepare the sauce: in a small saucepan, combine the sweetened condensed milk with regular milk. Heat and stir until smooth and warm.
  6. As soon as the basbousa comes out of the oven, pour the hot sauce over it and let it soak in.
  7. Serve warm, at room temperature, or even chilled.

Serving Suggestions:

  • Sprinkle shredded coconut or crushed pistachios on top for an elegant touch.
  • Pair with Arabic coffee or mint tea.
  • Cut into small squares for buffets and large gatherings.
  • Add a pinch of cinnamon or cardamom to the sauce for a unique twist.
